When the weather is good, mom loves to take me for rides. She never knows where she might end up because she never takes a map!! She doesn't seem to care and I sure don't as long as she has a little money for something to eat if we run out of things she has packed. She is great at getting lost. Last summer she decided to take the Blue Ridge Parkway to Floyd, Va. to see a good friend. Well...like I said...she gets lost. Who in the world can get lost going to Floyd on the Parkway? My mom. She ended up in a country setting on a little road. I made her stop at the first store we saw and ask directions. She tried to act like she knew exactly where we were but wasn't sure. The man said "well you are in Riner, Va. ma'm.! Mom said OH! How exactly do I get to Roanoke? She tried to act like she wasn't lost and it was written all over her face! It was a very long trip that day and we didn't get to see her friend in Floyd, Va. I was asleep in the floor of the Jeep coming back down the highway. What a day. You would think she would get a GPS or a map at least!
Here's a few pictures of the Parkway on that day. She did't take any after we got lost going to Floyd...going past Floyd and into Riner and on to wherever it was!!
This is at Hollyrocks. What's hiding down there?
This little pond and waterfall was nice!
Look Mom!!! Water!!!
Carefully checking it out but back feet must remain far away! Stretch!!
Nice tree next to the pond and waterfalls!
After that stop, we headed on to Floyd. Too bad we missed it. Mom really wanted to see her friend!! It was a fun trip though. Somebody please tell mom to get a GPS or take a map!!

I totally hear ya, Holly. My mom could get lost in a lunch-sized paper bag - that's why I always insist on going with her! We stumble onto some great adventures that way!

But sometimes it is fun to get lost and find somewhere great like this place. Looks like you had fun anyway, Holly. Hope you get to see Floyd soon.

Oh, that reminds me of the time mom and I tried to find that state park..I tossed my cookies in the back of the car and we finally found the place and quickly ran away!! Scary, but memorable, adventures!!
Way to go Mom, getting lost and taking your dog to a place that she otherwise never would have taken you.
Good Job

That is funny. Sounds like your mom does need a GPS. We just got one and boy is that think neat.
Very pretty photos. :)
My Duchess gets lost too! One time she went into the "city" and couldn't find her way out. She called the Duke and he asked her where she was - of course she said "If I knew where I was I wouldn't be lost"! Then he asked her if she was on the west side of the river - she didn't know that either. Then he asked her what direction she was facing - of course she didn't know how to tell. Then he said WHERE IS THE SUN IN THE SKY? Guess what? It was OVERCAST that day and there was no sun. Boy was the Duke unhappy with her! LOL.
So tell your Mom she is in good company!
Kisses,
Emma Rose

Yesh, maps are furry good. Our momma prints out directions off her laptop to where she is going and stops to read them lots when we are out and about. Never been lost but it sounds like a fun adventure!
be careful not to get caught in those rocks!
