Holly's Gotcha Day

Today, four years ago,  is the anniversary of my mom bringing me to my new home to live with  her and the kitties.   I was only six weeks old and had lived with my momma,  daddy and 10 other siblings and their parents who rescued my momma.  We were a big family but my first parents were able to find homes for all of us.   My dad is a Cocker Spaniel and my momma is a mystery.  She had been on the run and lost for awhile and this family who was walking my daddy everyday was finally able to get her to follow them home.  Actually my daddy had not been fixed yet and neither had my momma so we were kind of a surprise family!  We all looked different in many ways.   My momma was a mix of different breeds and all of the puppies were so different.  The vet said that momma looked like she had a variety of golden retriever, shepherd, collie, lab and even husky.  She was a rather large dog.  They said I would be about 25 lbs. at the most and I'm weighing in about 45 lbs. now!  I think they were judging that on the fact that I was only 5 and a half pounds at the time!  I kept growing!

We are sure we have used most of these pictures before but for my fourth year gotcha day, we are going to use them again.  We have lots of other old pictures but they are on another computer that is sitting in the floor right now!

This is my momma, Annie.

That's my daddy Domino and one of my sisters or brothers.

I was taking a nap.

I had been to the vet and was over at Auntie Gwen's house.  I was worn out.

Still at Auntie Gwen's house and wondering what was going on and what this thing was around my neck!  It was itching me.

At my new home wondering where my other family went!

I was happy when Bingo came to see me.  He was a great friend but sadly, he passed away from complications of diabetes.  We still miss him very much.

I have to admit, it was a really nice bed and toys in this crate.  The stuffed puppy was given to me by Auntie Gwen and felt like one of my siblings.  The crate had belonged to Alex, mom's other dog that she lost in 2006 to cancer and congestive heart failure.

I did sleep a lot the first few weeks.

I always tried to look innocent.

I loved these chew sticks.

I discovered that the toilet paper really does go through three rooms.

The chew bones got bigger and so did I every week.

I found shoes were just great to chew on and would actually take them off of mom's feet if I was given the chance.

My first snowfall was wonderful!

Sleeping on my tummy was a good thing.  That way I could keep an eye out for everybody.  Apparently I didn't notice mom climbing into my crate to get this picture!

I had a lot of toys to play with too but I decided to chew up the rugs, couch, pillows, run off a pet trainer and get myself arrested...but that's another long story!

Have a Great Day!
Lots of Love to All!!

Happy Gotcha Day, sweet Holly!!! You were just such a cute puppy. Amazing how much your fur changed as you got older. We loved it when you were small, but now it is just gorgeous. Bet it makes Mom have to use that brush a lot. Hope you have many more wonderful Gotcha Days in your future.

I just sat here staring at the picture of your Mom. Holly, that is exactly where your beautiful face came from. Except for your beautiful fur, you look EXACTLY like your Mom. WOW!

My Mom doesn't have any baby pictures of me because she didn't know me when I was a baby.

Glad you set your Mom straight on that toilet paper thing.

Love,
Rusty

What a cutie pie puppy! And adorable doggy you are now too. We got my Kelly from a rescue home so we aren't sure what breeds her momma and poppa were, but she definitely has some cocker spaniel. She has the same tail and ears as you!

OHHH I missed wishing you a Gotchit Day yesterday :( But I am here today to wish you well! I know how much your Mom loves you so its very important you found her to look after her!

P.S. You tell those people to leave your fur alone, your coat is just BEAUTIFUL!. I use a product called Vellus statin cream you only need a dab the size of a dime after your bath. It keeps my fur statin like so brushing me is easy till the next bath.

P.P.S. I wrote a novel here
