Many decades ago mom said she was just a "cat" person. She had Phoenix who she loved very much and that was it. She moved to a duplex and took up walking for exercise. She came across a yard that had a beautiful dog running around in it. She stopped and asked the guy in the yard what the dogs name was and he said it was Hobo. The next day she was back with treats. She asked the man if it was okay to give his dog some treats. He said it was fine. So...everyday after work, she took a walk which included a bag of treats to give to Hobo. Finally, she moved to another apartment. She then drove to Hobo's house to visit him! She moved again and would drive even further to visit with Hobo. One day she got to his house and a strange lady came flying out of the house screaming "DO YOU WANT THAT DOG?" Mom was stunned. She asked where his pawrents were and come to find out, they had sold the house, moved and left Hobo!! How could that be! It was quite apparent that this crazy screaming lady did not want Hobo. She told mom that he was a horrible dog and tore up everything and she was taking him to the pound!! Mom said "oh no you're not"!! She went through the gate, got Hobo, put him in her car and off they went. She tracked down his owners somehow and they did give her his papers and a flimsy explanation as to why they left him. He was registered and his birthday was May 2, 1982. Mom got him in 1990 at the age of 8 years old. He was a wonderful dog she said and it was just meant to be. Hobo lived to be 16 years old. He went blind, deaf but had no other health problems. She said she used to take him and her other dog Alex to the country to ride her horse and Hobo just loved to ride in the car like I do. I never got to meet him of course but hearing about him, I know how lucky mom was to give him a home. I just never could understand how a person could sell their house, take everything but the dog. Peoples can be really strange I guess. Today we are going to honor Hobo on his birthday. I thank Hobo for turning mom into a "dog" person along with a "cat" person" and a "horse" person!! Having Hobo in her life taught her the great value of spending time with dogs.

The beans had a chance to spend time with a nice Cocker Spaniel the boy beans called Jello. The wicked Step-Mom deliberately left the dog behind when they moved. When his boys came to visit their Dad for Christmas they discovered the doggie had been left. They came found him and with their NICE MOTHER's permission took him home to live with them at their Mother's. She even had to move to a new place so they could have the dog as the place they lived in didn't allow pets, which was why the doggie was suppose to be at their Dad's house. ~AFSS
What a wonderful story. It's so heart warming to know that he got to spend the rest of his life in a loving home. I will never understand how anyone could leave a dog behind like that. It's a good thing your Mom came back when she did!

A Very Special HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Hobo. What a lucky guy. Your Mom is one wonderful lady, Holly. You, too, are very lucky to have found her. Hobo is blowing out candles at Rainbow Bridge and probably having a big party with all of my friends there.
